Board recruitment

The ESN board exists out of 5 people, below here are short job descriptions, if you want to learn more about the different board members of the current board, you can find some information under About ESN --> ESN-Rotterdam

President

"Being a president means having a supervisory role over the rest of the Board, supporting their activities when needed. Meaning that you have to know what every function entails. Next to that, you will be incorporated in several administrative committees within the Erasmus University aimed at internationalisation. You will represent the international students as a whole towards the University.

 Being the president also means, having to leave aside some of your study time, to focus on ESN related activities. It also means you need to be representative at all time, to be able to respond or present your organisation to students or external parties interested in collaborations. Your position is supported by the Vice-president who has the overview of ongoing activities and has a supporting role as well as a supervising role over the president and the boardmembers as a whole.

All in all, experience in previous committees is recommended, a flexible and emphatic personality is a must and motivation and dedication are essential."

 Vice-President/Secretary

The vice-president/secretary function should concern two kinds of job description. However, both functions complement each other very well.

As a VP/Secretary, your main task is to keep the overview of the whole organisation. This can be reflected in, the ongoing activities and its progress, planning meetings, and updating schedules. Besides keeping an overview, you are needed to build and maintain internal relationships with the University-bounded organisations and faculties. Furthermore, supporting the president with his/her activities must not be left out. In cases where the president is not able to represent the organisation, you would be the first candidate to fulfil this task.

Being a VP/Secretary has to be pro-active, structured and flexible, you have to be able to project the long-term plans, which actions have to be taken while maintaining a realisable schedule. Of course, the much dedication, passion and motivation towards the organisation are the most essential.

Treasurer

As the treasurer of ESN you should have a basic understanding of financial matters. Most importantly, the treasurer should be reliable, structural and be able to manage the financial assets of the organization in such a way that the organization will break even at the end of the year. Your daily activities will include;

*       Making  financial statements of the ESN events

*       Creating a Balance Sheet and Income Statement

*       Controlling for the cash flows in the office and during events

*       Determining budgets for committees and other board members

*       Payment of invoices (credit)

*       Sending out invoices (debit)

*       Contact with the bank

*       Responsible for the financial obligations of sponsors

Are you interested in a job, where you are responsible for all the cash in- and outflows? Than do not hesitate to send an email to treasurer@esn-rotterdam.nl!

Coordinator Activities and Events

As Activity and Events coordinator I am responsible for all the activities organized by ESN. I coordinate the international and Holland committee which are responsible for planning the city trips, and parties. As the activities and events coordinator you are also the contact person for the bars and clubs. Weekly communication with B.E.D and with Club Vie is part of the job. The great thing about being an A&E coordinator is that you get to turn plans into reality and your own imagination plays a big role in organizing successful events. So if you like to party and like to organize parties and trips, then A&E coordinator is the job for you! If you have further questions you can always mail me at events@esn-rotterdam.nl

Coordinator Marketing/PR

As the coordinator for Marketing and PR you are responsible for the visibility of ESN-Rotterdam all year round and in as many places as possible. On one hand this means you have to keep the website up to date and on the other hand you have a chance to get creative with posters, flyers, business cards and other things to promote ESN on campus. As a coordinator Marketing&PR you definitely have to be creative since you have to come up with a suitable promotion plan for ESN, know a thing or two about design programmes like Photoshop and imager and be extremely flexible since sometimes a job can come up in a second and needs to be done in the next. If you have any questions regarding this position please don't hesitate to e-mail me at marketing@esn-rotterdam.nl
