Buddy programme

ESN Rotterdam wants to make sure every international student that comes to our beautiful city lands on good feet and that's why we have a buddy system. Buddies are motivated students from our university that can show the incoming students around the campus and the city alike and help them with any possible issues they come across.

Right now ESN is recruiting new buddies for the second semester.

Q: How can I become a buddy for ESN

A: Send an e-mail to buddy@esn-rotterdam.nl with a short motivation and attach your CV.

Q: What does it mean to be a buddy?

A: As a buddy you will guide up to 5 students through their first week of University. You will welcome them to Rotterdam (either by picking them up at Central Station or at Schiphol Airport), you will take them to their place of residence for the upcoming months, you will take part in the introduction days, which are planned for the last weekend of August, and take them on a campus tour. Finally, you will join them on a spido trip through the Port of Rotterdam on the 4th of September, which officially ends the buddy programme. Futhermore, you will be their contact person for the first few weeks. Afterwards, it’s up to you whether you stay in touch, although we highly encourage you to do so!

Q: What are the benefits of becoming a buddy?

A: First of all, you will get to meet new people from all around the world, which may help you establish a boundary transcending social network. Secondly, you will (further) develop your social skills; you are invited to a sponsored social drink to meet your fellow buddies; you are welcome to other ESN Events, and you will get free admission to the Spido trip. Most importantly however, as already mentioned, we hope that you will make new friends from all around the world!
